Mini-Bio: St. Augustine is the son of St. Monica. He was born in present day Algeria. His mother, St. Monica was a devout Catholic, but his father was a pagan. St. Augustine started out as a pagan, but eventually his mother, along with the help of the bishop of Milan, Ambrose, he became Catholic.
St. Augustine was a great thinker and wrote many articles and books. He is credited with writing the earliest autobiography, his titled Confessions.
Interesting Facts/Inspirations: St. Augustine's writings and ideas can be found in the work of a few modern day musicians. Switchfoot, Sting, Bob Dylan and Christian rock band Petra have all used the writings and life of St. Augustine in some of their music.
